North Carolina State University, National Science Foundation (NSF) Proposals 1965-1974

This collection includes the proposals for the original Science Development Plan grant, as well as the 1970 supplementary grant. The collection also includes progress reports submitted approximately every six months between May 1966 and June 1971, then annually from 1972 to 1974. In 1965, North Carolina State University at Raleigh applied to the National Science Foundation (NSF) to fund a Science Development Plan under the Science Development Program for Colleges and Universities. The goal of the plan, as stated in the proposal, was to obtain The National Science Foundation (NSF) funded the university’s original proposal and a 1970 supplementary proposal under the grant GU 1590. Work under GU 1590 continued from 1966 to 1974. The grant funded engineering projects, as well as the development of activities related to biomathematics on the N.C. State campus. support to strengthen faculties in the biosciences; materials, mechanics and electrotechnics in engineering; and the social sciences.
